Good for politicians to work together
BY: ALLI SULAIMAN
Now that all political parties have got onto common ground by the initiative of the country’s new Prime Minister it is time to let bygones be bygones and strive forward into the future with the purpose of serving the rakyat.
Foremost on the list is the Covid-19 pandemic and in this respect all politicians should be on the same page. It is this common theme that should be running in the minds of our politicians. The focus on Covid-19 must be shared by all politicians.
The other agenda that is of concern is the full reopening of the economy. The economy has been spewing and sputtering and has ground to an almost grinding halt now since it began to implode last year.
Keeping the Covid-19 pandemic focus is paramount. By containing the virus and its spread the various unopened sectors of the economy can be opened up stage-by-stage in tandem with recovery from Covid-19.
If it is not possible for Malaysia to have a Unity Government, a government that works together with all political parties is the best alternative to ensure that the country is free from the present very bleak and oppressive environment.
In going about this the new PM, his cabinet and government officials must also work in unison to overcome unemployment, various deadly diseases (other than the coronavirus), attend to the issue of abject poverty and meet the critical needs of the population.
