Opposition leaders did not ask for Cabinet position
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said that the opposition did not meet with the Prime Minister to seek a cabinet position on Wednesday, August 25.
The Pakatan Harapan Chief said after the meeting, he was not interested about being offered a Cabinet position.
He assured, “I am not interested. From the beginning, Pakatan Harapan have said we come here not to seek any position. Our issue is primarily focused on Covid-19 and the economy of the people.”
During the deliberate one-hour meeting with Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Anwar said that the meeting focused on the people’s well-being and finding common ground to tackle the pandemic crisis.
The meeting was attended by Parti Amanah Negara President, Mohamad Sabu, and DAP Secretary-General, Lim Guan Eng.
The Port Dickson MP had additionally stated that the programmes by the government should be focused on the people. If so, the Pakatan Harapan will be supportive of Ismail during the confidence vote.
The Prime Minister had also released a statement, verifying the details of the meeting with the opposition.
He added that to cool the recent political heat, he invited the opposition leaders to have a discussion as desired by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
