The Prime Minister has said that opposition parties are not to be included in the Cabinet although seeking their help on Monday (Aug 23).

Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob, speaking from Kedah, said that the Cabinet line-up will be announced by the end of the week.

He discredited any list that may have leaked and was firm that it is not a unity government.

The new PM said, “However, they have no participation in the cabinet. There is no unity government with the opposition.”

The elected Cabinet also would require the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong before being officially announced.

The offer of inviting the opposition to be part of the National Recovery Council was encouraging, said the Bera MP.

“It seems that we received an encouraging response from the Opposition. God willing, we will sit down together and talk,” he said.

The Prime Minister made his first visit to Yan, Kedah since the devastating floods. He has dole out RM 78 million for Yan to repair infrastructure damages and provide supplies for the victims. The funds would also be used to construct a dam and two bridges.
