Politicians encouraged by Ismail Sabri as Prime Minister
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has heartened politicians as he is appointed the 9th Prime Minister by the Yang di- Pertuan Agong.
Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong shared his congratulations to Ismail adding that he is hopeful the country can continue its efforts combatting the pandemic. The MCA President said it would benefit and secure the people for their well-being.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor also commended the Bera MP stating he is looking positively that Sabah’s state rights will be reinstated under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“Sabah will continue to fight for this, and other issues related to state rights, and that Sabah be given priority for her needs,” he said.
Opposition Lim Guan Eng in a statement congratulated the UMNO Vice-President on the appointment but reminded him of his duties.
The DAP Secretary-General said, “Ismail Sabri’s main duty is to unite all Malaysians to fix the mistakes and failures in combating the Covid-19 pandemic which saw a record-breaking 23,654 infections today (Aug 20) and more than 13,000 accumulated deaths.”
Ismail Sabri will be sworn in as the 9th Prime Minister at the Istana Negara at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (Aug 21).
