A 2018 video about Ismail Sabri speaking to a crowd has angered Malaysians as he is set to become Prime Minister.

The hegemonic racial speech consisted of enforcing Malay rights and stifling other races.

He accused the Democratic Action Party (DAP) of playing games because they were putting the Malay special rights in doubt.

Ismail told the crowd that MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) was only for the Malays.

He added, “But now, the Vice President isn’t among the Malays and does campaigns in Tamil schools and others, so many of the Indians would enter MRSM. I used to be in charge of MARA. I did this for the Malays.”

The video posted on Facebook drew criticism for the Bera Member of Parliament by Malaysians.

A user, Adrian P. Ban Kim said his statements were racist and questioned how he could be a Prime Minister candidate.

Another user Catherine Rodriguez said, “And he is being proposed as our next PM. This situation is worse than Covid.”

On Thursday (Aug 19), 114 MPs had vowed their support for the UMNO Vice-President to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
