Intentional delays the reason for MUDA’s party rejection
The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance has claimed the Home Minister rejected the party’s application because of dirty tactics.
Lim Wei Jiet, vice-president of MUDA, said in a statement that Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin had made the decision minutes before the hearing started on Thursday (Aug 12).
Due to the unexpected decision, the hearing had to be postponed to August 18. He added that no explanation was given for the party’s rejection.
“MUDA deeply regrets the Home Minister’s decision. At all times, MUDA had given full cooperation to the home minister and RoS. All issues regarding the (party’s) constitution or registration of documentation have been discussed with the RoS, and all amendments that needed to be made have been implemented.”
MUDA was also disappointed that the announcement was rejected with an ‘unreasonable delay’. The party had sent its registration in September 2017 and an appeal on February 4 this year.
He accused that the timing of the decision to reject MUDA’s appeal signified that the authorities intended to delay the registration ‘as long as possible’.
“The dirty tactics of this Perikatan Nasional government will not dampen our spirit to continue to be a check and balance to the failures and shallowness of the leadership that exists today,” he stated.
