Those against the September vote are committing treason, says Deputy PM
Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said those against the Agong’s decree to carry out the confidence vote in September are treasonous.
In a press conference on Friday (Aug 6), the Deputy mentioned that additional statutory declarations or letters sent to the king will not be accepted.
“Any statutory declarations or moves to bring down the government goes against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree,” he said.
At the conference alongside 21 Members of Parliament, he said that currently 31 MPs are with the Perikatan government. 10 of them could not be at the conference.
The Bera MP added that those, particularly in government positions, would be lacking responsibility if they would leave now.
“As responsible MPs, especially ministers who have been tasked to resolve the Covid-19 pandemic (and) resolve the rakyat’s problems, it would be highly irresponsible to the rakyat if we leave this government in haste, as instructed by our party,” said Ismail Sabri.
But he added, he and the pro-government UMNO MPs are loyal to the party still.
A discussion will be brought up among each other on how to move forward with the issue raised by secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
Ismail Sabri said he was not informed of any disciplinary actions to be taken against him.
