Muhyiddin Yassin lied against the King, claims Anwar
Anwar Ibrahim claimed that the Prime Minister had lied to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong about obtaining the majority in Parliament on Thursday, August 5.
The Parti Keadilan Rakyat President during a Facebook live video said a minimum of 113 Members of Parliament is against the Perikatan Nasional-led government.
Those consist of 105 Opposition MPs and at least eight recently defected UMNO MPs.
Anwar added that it is impossible for Muhyiddin to have the majority now.
He also referenced the Perak Constitutional crisis in 2009 when three MPs that caused the state government to collapse.
At the time, Perak Menteri Besar, Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin recommended that the state assembly be dissolved and host a new election.
However, the recommendation was declined by Sultan Azlan Shah. The alternative that was taken was to work with Barisan Nasional to form a new state government.
“It was ruled that the Sultan has absolute powers in this matter. It cannot be disputed when the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or the Sultan is confident that someone possesses the majority,” said the Port Dickson representative.
To Anwar, the Perikatan government has collapsed and a leader who had lost the majority cannot lead a country.
