Pregnant JB mother to receive rare blood type from selfless Sarawakian by airplane
A man in Sarawak had donated a rare blood type to a pregnant woman in Johor Bahru on Tuesday, August 3.
According to a Facebook post by Blood Bank Hospital Umum Sarawak, the woman is preparing to go through a Caesarean section. She has a Rh17 bloody type which is uncommon.
The rare blood type is hardly found among Malaysians but mainly in Sarawak. The blood type is particular to the Bidayuh ethnic group.
Pehan anak Majis, the donor from Sarawak, decided to act selflessly for the sake of the woman.
From Sarawak, the blood was delivered to KLIA before going to Johor Bahru. The blood made its journey by air.
It was vital that she got the right blood to avoid any medical complications.
The post stated, “This is because if they receive blood from a different group of donors it can result in an acute blood reaction that can endanger the life of the patient.”
In a time where the pandemic can bring the worst out of people, Pehan showed the true spirit of #KitaJagaKita.
