Why It’s Important to Upskill and Reskill Employees

In this ever-changing world, to stay abreast with current technology and skills, it is important for every employee to upskill themselves regularly for Malaysia to remain a developed nation. 

Skills are important when it comes to employment. A talented, skilled and experienced employee will help the company achieve its goals and enable the company to profit financially. Reskilling is also important for employees to stay updated and learn new skills relevant to their jobs. 

Job roles are also changing at a fast pace thus making skill gap more obvious across industries. This is also a good reason for employees to upskill and reskill as today’s skills might become obsolete in the next few years.

Companies should invest in upskilling their employees to retain their current workforce. This would also show employees that they are worth the investment and they will have a place in the company in the future. 

As such, it is important to create the importance of training awareness and provide training resources to employees. Employees should also be pre-informed in order to make time out of their busy schedules to join in the training provided. 

Another way is to connect their personal goals to business objectives. Employees would want to know how their training would be beneficial to the company. When they are aware of the benefits it would bring to the company, it will motivate them to learn and take the training seriously.
