We all experienced learning things at school and the knowledge that we acquired made us who we are today. Besides gaining knowledge at school, we also learn from our parents, friends and loved ones. Life itself teaches us valuable lessons when we learn from our mistakes.
After graduating from university, we step into the working world. We do not have to sit for exams anymore but that doesn’t mean we should stop being curious and stop learning. Learning should be a continuous effort to upgrade ourselves and keep us updated on the recent technology, trends and information in an ever-changing world.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said “Shall I tell you a secret of a true scholar? It is this: Every man I meet is my master at some point, and in that, I learn from him.” It is possible to learn from anyone regardless of their age. We can also learn by reading books and also taking up courses online. Thanks to the internet, one is able to get information at one’s fingertips.
Successful entrepreneurs are always constantly learning as they believe that they don’t know everything. This is a good habit that has led them to succeed in their business and in life. Thus, self-growth is fulfilling and it will also make us successful in our career. We tend to also stay humble as we are aware of how much there is to learn.
Learning also inspires you to generate new ideas and you will be able to teach others or share what you have learned. It would also help you overcome job burnout when you learn new skills for relaxing hobbies such as gardening or knitting.
Benjamin Franklin said, “If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” Gaining knowledge is an investment in yourself as nobody could take it away from you.
