The surprising rise of red flags
BY: NICHOLAS LIM
It is perfectly understandable when a needy person raises a white flag in Malaysia but the surprising wave of the red flag in aid of pet animals is an indication of how desperate the need has become for man and beast.
Many Malaysians will offer help readily to those who raise the white flag. But to the surprise of animal rights activists, many people are paying heed to the red flags that have been raised which clearly indicates that deep down inside people care about animals.
There is certainly no need to motivate people to aid those who have raised the white flag because it is just human nature to care for the suffering of our fellow Malaysians who are poor and hungry and needy.
But the fact that Malaysians also care for the welfare of animals goes to show that many of us have hearts that are made of flesh and not stone. It immediately elevates us to strive for a kind, gentle world.
If Malaysians can show that they care for animals then there is no need to worry about the fate of humankind in this country. This augurs well for us and assures us that in this country everyone will be taken care of irrespective of race and religion.
All these are the evidence needed to show and display that when push comes to shove Malaysians are not racists and in showing they care passionately enough about animals there is no doubt that the care is there for humans.
For how can you care for animals and not care for a human being? This is why it also shows that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about the best and the worst in us. As we strive to eradicate the coronavirus, there is a need to ensure the well being of both man and beast.
