Do you often suffer from burnout at work? Did you know that work-life balance is one of the keys to productivity as employees are able to split their time between work and other personal activities in their lives?
As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”, this applies to employees working in the corporate world. Overworking without sufficient rest could affect our mental and physical health.
Work is important to every employee. However, we shouldn’t let it take a toll on our daily life and health. It is also important to spend time with our families, friends, loved ones and on our hobbies. As such, it is important to dedicate some personal time for ourselves as happy employees are productive. This in turn would greatly benefit our companies as we would be taking fewer sick leaves and our performance at work is good.
On the other hand, there are ways that employers could encourage their employees to practice work-life balance. One of the ways is to implement flexible working hours at the workplace or allowing their employees to work remotely on certain days. Companies could also provide their staff with the right tools to get them working remotely. This would greatly motivate their employees to perform, meet deadlines and excel in their work. These employees would also more likely work at the company for many years more.
Overall, when the well-being of employees are guaranteed, they get more productive. Some countries have implemented a four-day work week and the results concluded that the employees remained productive and never missed a deadline or target.
