During the current lockdown, many NGOS have distributed food aid and other essential items to families in need. Some businesses and NGOs also distributed deliciously cooked meals to frontliners as a token of appreciation for the noble work they are doing for the country and its people.
The act of compassion to help the needy through charitable works have greatly impacted and assisted many families during this difficult period. Every small act of kindness goes a long way.
The white flag campaign (#BenderaPutih) that has been launched is supported by several businesses and they have taken to social media to announce and volunteer to assist those who are in need of food and essential items during the pandemic. Families who need aid are encouraged to raise a white flag in front of their house to signal that they are in need of help.
Everyone could play their part in helping others, this could include paying attention to your neighbours and asking if they need any help. If you notice that there are families who are in dire need of food, you may encourage or help them to place a white flag in front of their homes to signal for help. You may also contact NGOs who are providing food aid and inform them about someone you know who is in need. It is also good to share extra food with your neighbours or families in need in your neighbourhood.
Families who are undergoing financial issues and are not able to provide food on the table shouldn’t be ashamed or fearful to call out for help as people around them will be glad to help out as much as they can.
