The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed the arrival of their second child, a beautiful daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the family on Friday, June 4th at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA.
Baby Lili weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz. (3.48kg), and both mother and daughter are in healthy condition and settling in at home. According to a statement released by the couple, Lili is named after both her great-grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname is Lilibet, while her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” said the Duke and Duchess in an official statement on the birth.
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
After declaring their independence from the Royal Family in March last year, Meghan and Prince Harry are currently based in California. The couple announced their second pregnancy during the interview with Oprah Winfrey that same month March, where Markle also shared on the negative impact being a royal had on her mental health, revealing their decision to leave their royal duties was largely impart to protect their family.
